The Saudi Special Olympics will hold its National Basketball Championship from December 21-22, 2025, at the King Saud University for Health Sciences Sports Complex in Riyadh, with the participation of nine clubs from across the Kingdom.
The participating clubs are: Al-Qassim Club for People with Disabilities, Ghazlan Al-Sahra Special Olympics, Al-Ghadir Special Olympics, Al-Jawf Club for People with Disabilities, Riyadh Club for People with Disabilities, Efaa Special Olympics, Asir Club for People with Disabilities, Al-Ta'heel Special Olympics, and Al-Ahsa Club for People with Disabilities.
The championship will begin on Sunday, December 21, at 1:00 PM, and will continue on Monday starting at 10:00 AM, culminating in the awards ceremony.
This championship serves as the closing event for the 2025 sports season, reflecting the Saudi Special Olympics' commitment to developing sports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and promoting their participation in a safe and organized sporting environment that embodies the values of inclusion, empowerment, and positive competition.
Medical examinations will be conducted alongside the championship, led by health directors as part of the Healthy Athletes Program. These examinations, covering a range of health specialties, will ensure the safety and readiness of all participating athletes. A forum for parents will also be held in cooperation with the Parents' Gathering at the Ifada Center, featuring educational sessions aimed at strengthening the family's role in supporting athletes.
